About

About

Street Youth Ministry's mission is to to know, love, and serve homeless young adults. We provide all sorts of practical help, but our main product is guidance.

We have a new location! We are now located 20 minutes north of campus on CapMetro Route 803. Students can ride CapMetro routes for free using their UT Student ID.

Opportunities

  • Volunteers typically spend half of their time helping sort needed items and restocking our client shopping experience, and half of their time engaging in solution-focused, strengths-based conversation or games with our young adult clients.
  • We require strong boundaries with our clients, which includes no outside contact with them. This protects everyone.
  • We have a well established volunteer management software system. You must check in and check out each time using that system for attendance credit. We verify hours when requested against those records.
  • In-person
  • Hybrid

Volunteer Application Process:

Our process is three steps:

  • First, express interest so we can get you started!
  • Second, electronically sign our volunteer agreement and upload the accompanying documentation. During this step, you will select your three trial appointments.
  • Finally, at the end of your three trial appointments, you’ll be extended the opportunity to sign the continuing agreement and select your weekly appointments and end date. For students who wish it, they can do as little as one in person visit per week and sign up for additional offsite tasks, or Big Helps, that are listed and updated regularly on our website.
  • For the purposes of this internship, all students must do on site or hybrid.
