About

Developing K.I.D.S. has an urgent need for volunteers to assist with the Kindergarten - Third (K-3rd) grade group during our afterschool program.

Program Times: 4:00pm - 6:30pm

Volunteers Needed from 3:30p - 6:30p to assist with the following
(Fall programming ends on May 29th)

3:45p - 4:00pm: Participant check-in
4:00p - 4:30pm: Homework Help; Academic Enrichment; Literacy/Reading
4:30p - 5:00pm: Activity/Nature Walk
5:00p - 5:30p: Family Style Dinner
5:30p - 6:00p: Lesson/Ice Breaker/Community Builder
6:00p - 6:30p: Clean up/Parent Pick up

To sign up for one, or both days, please complete the volunteer application and be sure to specify your preferred schedule where requested. After submission, a confirmation email or phone will follow within 24-48 hours.

Requirement Details

Upon submission of the volunteer application, a background check is completed by Developing K.I.D.S. staff.

Volunteers are asked to obtain a Michigan Department of Health & Human Services (MDHHS)/Child Protective Services (CPS) Clearance to work directly with Developing K.I.D.S. minor participants.

After successfully passing both background checks, volunteers are invited to attend a mandatory in-person orientation & training prior to working with Developing K.I.D.S. participants. In certain cases, based on results of background checks, potential volunteers may be asked to volunteer in roles that do not require direct interaction with participants, i.e., administrative tasks, community food distribution, etc.
